DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Fund Accounting Manager/Senior Manager to lead our fund accounting operations. This role is critical to ensuring the financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency of our investment vehicles.
Reporting to the Controller, this role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, efficient cash management, and alignment of financial processes with strategic goals. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, deep knowledge of fund structures, and a track record of managing complex stakeholder relationships—both internal and external.
Fund Oversight & Reporting
- Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple funds, including NAV calculations, investor allocations, and capital account maintenance.
- Prepare and review all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
- Monitor fund expenses, accruals, and valuation inputs to ensure accurate reporting.
- Responsible for month and year-end close processes, general ledger activity, bank and fund reconciliations, P&L allocations, pricing, etc.
- Coordinate and lead year-end audits with external auditors and tax advisors.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for internal teams (e.g., investor relations, legal, operations, HR and technology).
- Build and manage relationships with external service providers including fund administrators, auditors, and tax professionals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support capital activity, fund launches, and structuring initiatives.
Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Oversee internal accounting staff and external service providers to ensure timely and accurate fund operations and reporting.
- Design, implement and document internal controls, process improvements, and accounting system enhancements.
- Partner with Yuma’s engineering teams and external service providers to drive automation and improve reporting infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in fund accounting, with exposure to private equity, venture capital, or hedge funds.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP as it applies to investment funds.
- CPA designation required.
- Proven experience managing multiple stakeholder relationships, including both internal cross-functional teams and external service providers.
- Demonstrated ability as a self-starter with a track record of building out new processes, capabilities, or functions in dynamic environments.
- Direct experience preparing audited financials and supporting fund audits.
- Provide critical input in the preparation of budgets or forecasts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with innovative industries such as blockchain, AI, or technology startups or in the financial services industry, is a plus.
- Experience working in a high-growth startup or fast-paced, ambiguous environments is preferred.
