The Director of Data Science and Data Engineering at OXIO plays a pivotal role in leading and shaping our data-driven strategy. This person will report directly to the CTO. This technological leadership position involves spearheading the development of an AI-powered data layer that underpins our network infrastructure, products, and customer experiences. The Director will be responsible for overseeing both the Data Science and Data Engineering teams, driving innovation, optimizing data processes, and leveraging advanced analytics to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. The role would be pivotal for making OXIO the first AI-powered telecom network layer. We are seeking a seasoned professional with a proven track record in building and leading high-performance teams, coupled with a deep understanding of the data stack and a passion for leveraging data to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and articulate a comprehensive data-driven strategy for OXIO, outlining how AI-powered data solutions will support and enhance network infrastructure, products, and customer experiences
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align data science and data engineering initiatives with overall business goals and objectives
  • Drive the vision of making OXIO the first AI-powered telecom network layer through innovative and forward-thinking approaches
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire high-performance teams within Data Engineering, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Establish clear performance metrics and goals, regularly evaluating and optimizing team performance
  • Oversee the execution of key projects related to data layer development, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced analytics and machine learning models into the data layer, enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Evaluate and optimize existing data processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy
  • Communicate the value and impact of data-driven initiatives to the broader organization, fostering a data-driven culture

Key Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Proven track record of at least 8-10 years in progressively responsible roles within data engineering or related fields
  • Expertise in data engineering, including proficiency in designing and implementing scalable data architectures, data pipelines, and ETL processes
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership or executive role, preferably as a Senior Manager / Director of Data Engineering or a similar position
  • Familiarity with real-time analytics architectures and tools such as Kafka, Flink, Apache Pinot, Druid, or similar
  • Knowledge of data science methodologies, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, with hands-on experience in deploying and managing AI solutions
  • Thorough understanding of telecommunications and/or technology industry, including knowledge of network infrastructure, emerging technologies, and industry trends
  • Ability to develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with organizational goals, contributing to the long-term success and competitive advantage of the company
