Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Data, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics or a related field, with 2–4 years of experience in data analysis, financial reporting, reconciliation, fintech operations or a related analytical role. Experience working with financial transaction data, banking/payment systems or financial reconciliations is strongly preferred.
- Own the end-to-end reconciliation of customer inflows and outflows, including transaction-level matching between bank statements, payment processors, internal systems and database records.
- Perform daily/monthly reconciliations, investigate unmatched, duplicated, missing or incorrectly recorded transactions, and coordinate with Finance, Operations and Technology teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain reconciliation schedules and exception reports, ensuring outstanding items are properly tracked, investigated and cleared within agreed timelines.
- Perform controlled database-level corrections and updates where required to ensure transaction records accurately reflect underlying bank/payment transactions, with appropriate validation and documentation of all changes.
- Monitor data consistency and integrity across systems and identify the root causes of discrepancies, with a focus on resolving underlying system or process issues rather than relying on recurring manual adjustments.
- Handle cross-functional data requests and prepare operational and financial reports, dashboards and ad-hoc analysis for Finance, Operations, Product and Management.
- Use SQL and data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, data quality issues and operational inefficiencies, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Support the Technology team in debugging data and system issues by providing business context, validating system outputs and coordinating testing of system fixes and enhancements.
- Develop and maintain recurring reports, dashboards and automated checks, with a focus on improving the accuracy, timeliness and scalability of financial and operational reporting.
- Identify opportunities to automate reconciliation and reporting processes, reduce manual intervention and strengthen controls around financial data.
- Work closely with Finance, Operations, Product and Technology teams to improve data flows, reporting processes and financial controls, and track recurring issues through to resolution.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for reconciliations, database adjustments, data issues and process changes to ensure a clear audit trail and continuity of processes.
Required Skills:
- Strong SQL skills, with hands-on experience querying BigQuery and PostgreSQL.
- Practical experience with financial reconciliation, transaction-level data and banking/payment data.
- Understanding of database structures and experience performing controlled data corrections or updates.
- Experience with reporting/visualization tools; Metabase preferred, with Power BI or Tableau also acceptable.
- Strong Google Sheets skills; Apps Script experience for automation is preferred.
- Familiarity with AWS Glue or similar ETL/data pipeline tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and perform root-cause analysis independently.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to work effectively with Finance, Operations and Technology teams.
- Python fundamentals are a plus.
