Marketplace Manager (Payments)- Argentina

Buenos Aires, Argentina
Posted on May 12, 2026
About the Role
- We are building a new merchant-facing financial product in Argentina. This role owns Argentina end-to-end.
- We are looking for an operator who has spent years inside the Argentine payments ecosystem, knows merchants personally, understands their pain, and can build a market from zero.
What You'll Own
- Merchant acquisition: onboard the first 500 merchants personally.
- Merchant onboarding: own the onboarding, activation, and first-transaction journey. Make it fast, make it work
- Merchant pain point discovery and solutioning
- Product feedback loop: be the voice of the Argentine merchant inside the company. Translate what you see on the ground into product roadmap inputs
- Local partnerships: payment networks, merchant associations, neighborhood commercial chambers, agency partners, influencers, and acquisition channels that work in Argentina specifically
- Agency and vendor management: we already have a marketing agency engaged. You manage the relationship and outcomes
- Operations: returns, disputes, support, settlement reconciliation. Own the merchant experience post-onboarding
- Local regulatory and compliance navigation: work with our compliance lead to make sure we are set up correctly for Argentine merchant payments
Who You Are
- 2-10 years in Argentine payments, fintech, or merchant-facing financial services
- Have personally onboarded and managed merchants. You know the difference between a one-time sale and a merchant who stays
- Deep instinct for Argentine MSME pain. You understand what a café owner cares about and why
- Comfortable spending half your week outside the office, in merchant locations, initially
- Operator energy, not consultant energy. You build, you do not advise
- Native Spanish. Functional English (you will be in weekly syncs with the business team and product team based outside Argentina)
- You have an existing network of merchants, payment partners, or local fintech operators in Argentina
What Makes This Role Different
- You are employee #1 in Argentina. Everything you build, you own
- The product is genuinely differentiated- details shared at the right stage of the conversation
- Direct reporting line to the business Head. No layers, no politics
- Argentina is the proving ground. If this works, the playbook expands across LATAM. You lead that
Compensation
- Competitive local base + variable tied to merchant acquisition and active merchant volume. Specifics discussed at offer stage.
