About the team:

Luno Accountants are a savvy bunch who love what they do. We handle the core accounting responsibilities at Luno and as a member of this fast-paced, growing team, you know your accounting principles applied in business from back to front, you are deadline-driven, you have a problem-solving and value-adding mindset.

We’re looking for a self-starter, creative thinker and collaborative individual who is passionate about developing themselves and others and who is willing to go above and beyond.

The role in a nutshell:

All things expenses and payments related.

Your mission will be:

Financial Operations:

• Processing of invoices, matching to approved POs and payments in accordance with Luno’s internal AP SLAs (with liaisons with lunauts &/ vendor where required)
• Reconcile supplier statements for all Luno vendors, managing timely and accurate payment of these vendors in accordance with Luno’s internal AP SLAs
• Process employee expenses, whilst monitoring compliance with Luno expense policies
• Credit Card payment reconciliation, resolving queries and differences
• Perform monthly creditor and expense completeness review
• Responsible for bank statement reconciliations across all regions
• Respond to both internal and external queries with an exceptionally high standard of customer service
• Ensure the complete and accurate recording of expenses and payables [entities, accounts, dimensions & values etc] and congruence with where the cost has been budgeted.

Processes, SOPs & documentation:

• Contribute to the maintenance of the FinOps systems description & SLA, SOPs and process documentation to be housed in the central location (i.e. Notion &/ Doctract)
• Contribute to the risk and control framework for the Accounts Payable flow - ensuring all valid risks and mitigating controls have been raised
• Contribute to developing, modifying and maintaining the operational design and effectiveness of the internal controls relating to the accounts payable function
• Contribute to the Lunaut training to ensure all relevant issues are covered

Business responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development and optimisation of systems and processes to execute on-time payments to vendors
• Adhering to policies related to accounts payable and drive standardisations across regions
• Contribute to the expansion of self-service functionality in order to improve vendor experience and reduce manual processes

Data management:

• Utilises governance Kissflow workflow to inform any chances to payment systems; processes / master data
• Contribute to the maintenance of all operational expense related datasets [Accounts; dimensions; mappings]
• Ensure all duplicates and invalid documents are logged for review by the FinOps manager

Stakeholder relationships:

• Liaises with Treasury function as FRC interface on Kyriba
• Liaises with Country Managers, Finance Business Partners and other senior stakeholders across Luno

Continuous Transformation:

• Continued involvement in transformation projects i.e. assisting with building systems, improving process efficiencies, creating automation and implementing internal controls.

A little about you:

• Understanding of the VAT implications/ WHT/Transfer pricing/ Corporate tax implications of revenue amendments in collaborations with tax function
• How the invoice & payment entries create in Sage
• Understanding of Luno’s major suppliers
• Understanding Luno’s invoice coding processes
• In depth understanding of the end to end PO to payment process.
• Understanding of Luno’s governance processes
• Detailed knowledge of Luno Group’s company organisational structure and logic for functions of each entity
• Comprehensive understanding of all payment systems at Luno
• Ability to assess and prioritise incoming information in order to draw inferences from that information that will inform a line of enquiry.
• The attention to detail of a hawk.
• Understanding of processes, systems and flow of data.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with a variety of people across the business at all levels.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Proficient in Excel.
• A bright, logical mindset, with the ability to quickly grasp concepts and think creatively about solutions.
