The team

Our global Compliance team is redefining how compliance should be done - we challenge the norms and practices of the incumbent industry participants to identify ways to make Compliance at Kraken a competitive advantage. Our teams navigate the regulatory uncertainty and changing policy positions of global regulators and governments to help chart a path that ensures Kraken is successful in a truly dynamic industry.

We are building an industry-leading privacy and AI compliance program that earns the trust of our clients and staff, and we have an exciting opportunity for the right person looking to develop their privacy career in a global tech company.

You will team up with privacy subject matter experts and key internal partners to drive our program and business initiatives forward with velocity. A few initiatives the Privacy Office have been actively driving/supporting:

  • Reducing lead escalation and response time to standard Data Subject Rights requests

  • Mapping Kraken’s AI-driven initiatives for impact assessments

  • Exploring innovative and compliance-driven ways to perform product and marketing analytics

  • Developing scalable and systemised Records of Processing activities

  • Adding transparency to our notices

The ideal candidate will be analytical, self-motivated, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and an effective communicator across multiple teams in the organization. You should be able to spot trends and see the big picture while successfully handling individual tasks that span the wider team. You must be committed to the values of teamwork, integrity, and innovation.

This role will report to the Global Data Privacy Officer (GDPO) as part of our compliance group.

The role is remote for candidates based in Europe.

The opportunity

  • Support the escalation and resolution of privacy incidents and data subjects rights requests

  • Offer practical privacy advice to our business partners

  • Develop metrics and dashboards to help scale our compliance program

  • Maintain our library of privacy impact assessments, records of processing activities, and privacy guidance documentation

  • Drive the integration of new tooling (including AI solutions)

  • Assist with responding to data protection authorities as needed

  • Deliver ongoing guidance and training to key business partners

  • Track privacy projects from initiation to completion

  • Stay abreast of and research developments in international privacy & AI regulations and enforcement trends

Skills you should HODL

  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience

  • Experience supporting a privacy function in a tech or financial services company

  • Experience advising on the GDPR and general knowledge of other key privacy frameworks (e.g., CCPA, PIPEDA)

  • Experience creating metrics, dashboards, or project trackers

  • Experience with well-known knowledge base, task tracking, or data visualization tools

  • Experience in optimizing policies and procedures to demonstrate compliance with various external compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO, SOC, FINRA)

  • Ability to write and speak clearly and concisely in English

Nice-to-Haves

  • Law degree or computer science degree

  • Experience working with auditors and regulators

  • CIPM, CIPT, CIPP/E or CIPP certification

  • Experience working with Slack, Airtable, and/or a Privacy program management software (eg. OneTrust)
