We're bringing back a job that lost its name. Around 2010, "growth hacker" meant the people who figured out a new platform's distribution before anyone had priced the rules — the Craigslist cross-posts, the invite loops, the tricks that built Airbnb and Dropbox. Then the platforms matured and the role quietly dissolved into "marketing." AI and short video just reopened the exact same frontier, and almost nobody has the reps yet. We want the person who does.

Why this role exists

We're building several new AI-driven consumer products at the same time. We can't tell you what they are yet. We can tell you the problem: each one lives or dies on whether it finds an audience cheaply and fast, and there's no playbook to copy — the tactics that work right now are being invented this quarter and patched the next. Your job is to invent them, across all of it. You roam — embed with whichever product needs distribution most, build the experiments, make the videos, find the loop, write down what worked, and carry it to the next one.

The output is video. Dozens a week. Hooks, formats, variants, channels — made and tested with AI, read off the retention curve, killed or scaled on the numbers. You're not the best videographer in the room and you're not the best marketer. You're the best combination: someone who can make the thing and make it spread, and who'd rather ship fifty experiments than perfect one.

What you'll own

  • Make the content — short video at volume, AI-native, on whichever products need it. The craft here is volume and instinct, not polish.

  • Invent the loops — every product needs a reason people bring other people. You find it, test it, and prove it with a number.

  • Build your own tools — when a workflow is slow, you vibe-code around it. The best growth people here ship software to do their growth.

  • Write the playbook down — what worked becomes the thing the next product starts from, and the thing you teach the team.

  • Carry one number — weekly new people who actually engage, from organic. Not views for their own sake. People who showed up and stayed.

A season in the life

Week one, you ship video for something already live and move a number. Month one, you've run a full experiment loop on one product end to end — hypothesis, content, result, written up. By the end of the quarter you've done it across two or three, and the team is running a playbook you wrote.

What you bring

Three things, and they're dealbreakers:

  • Proof you can make video that travels. You've built an audience, or made content that went somewhere, and you can show the numbers. Links, not adjectives.

  • Proof you can build. You've shipped your own app, tool, bot, or community. Vibe-coded is fine; shipped is the point.

  • Extreme AI-nativeness. Not "I use ChatGPT." You've built workflows, agents, or tools that let you do the work of a whole team, and you can screen-share one live.

Nice to have: a real following of your own — you keep it, and the work makes it bigger. Experiment rigor, or the obvious ability to learn it fast. We don't care where you went to school, what's on your resume, or how many years you've done anything. We care what you've shipped and what it did.

This role is not for you if…

  • You want a playbook handed to you. There isn't one — inventing it is the job.

  • You need unconstrained creative freedom. Some of what we build carries the most beloved brands in the world; the craft is making work they're proud to amplify.

  • You hear blunt, fast feedback as an attack. We say exactly what we think and move quickly; the people who thrive treat that as fuel.

  • You want to make content without owning what it does to the numbers.

About Dapper Labs

We invented the modern digital collectible — CryptoKitties, NBA Top Shot, Disney Pinnacle. We're a venture studio: a small, AI-native team that starts startups and builds with the strongest brand partners in the world. Most people here could go found their own company in a few years. Some will — that's the job working. The undisclosed projects are our next bets, and you'd work on them directly with our CEO.

What we can offer that you can't get on your own: more shots on goal than any solo project — a portfolio of frontier products to experiment across, where what you learn on one compounds into the next. Real budget behind your tests instead of your own credit card. A room with a couple of other people as good as you. Brand and audience access no solo builder can rent. And your audience stays yours, and grows. (Yes, the vibes are good — but that's not the reason to come. The reason is the reps you can't get anywhere else.)

Compensation

$120,000–$160,000 USD base — one range, wherever you are — plus equity and a real experiment budget. Remote with ET–PT overlap, or in one of our offices if you want the room.

How to apply

Don't send a resume. Send links to videos you made and what the numbers did, plus one thing you built — and a line or two on one decision behind one of them. The note matters more than the list. Then the real way in is the challenge: a paid, open project where you keep everything you make, whether or not you get the job.
