While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

The Head of Operations will be responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing the business operations utilised for the day-to-day functioning of Coinbase in Luxembourg (“CBLU”). The individual identified for this role will be required to have experience overseeing operations, including outsourcing, as well as the work of senior management and expansion plans that may develop as CBLU’s operations grow.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Oversee CBLU’s operational function and processes, .ensure the smooth running of the business
  • Continue to develop and manage the firm’s Outsourcing framework.
  • Work closely with Legal, Compliance and Risk on major regulatory/policy efforts
  • Ensure that CBLU operates in full compliance with applicable local regulatory requirements including but not limited to outsourcing, AML, CPC, etc.
  • Help to lead the building of a robust operations resilience framework and the implementation of DORA.
  • Drive more efficient execution across EEA e-money and crypto operations
  • Provide cross-border/pan European support.
  • Develop meaningful and insightful MIS to support day-to-day oversight and data driven decision making.
  • Scan for current trends, competitors and developments in the market to identify new or emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Establish strong working relationships with Product, Engineering, Business Operations and Design counterparts to support products growth in EEA.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • Proven track record in operations and/or operational oversight, including policies and procedures development and monitoring day-to-day activities
  • Passion to be outstanding in everything you do
  • Good understanding of how the various functions of a regulated financial services business operate (e.g. Compliance, Finance, Risk, Treasury, Audit, Outsourcing)
  • Process orientated
  • Clear verbal and written communicator
  • Ability to have impact and influence with senior, peer & junior colleagues both regionally and globally
  • Proven judgment to assess risk impact & address or escalate accordingly
  • Happy to roll up sleeves
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with strong prioritisation skills
  • Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with regulators

Nice to haves:

  • Previous experience working in a multinational / US-headquartered business
  • Experience with retail-oriented payments, trading, or brokerage platforms
  • Previous work experience or personal interest in crypto/blockchain space
