Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

The Compliance Product, Analytics, and Model Governance (PAM) Team at Coinbase is at the forefront of protecting Coinbase’s reputation as the most trusted and compliant crypto exchange in the world. Our Product Management Team is responsible for the design and ongoing enhancement of our core Financial Crime Compliance models—including Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions Screening, and Customer Risk Score (CRS)—leveraging cutting-edge AI and machine learning to detect financial crime, with high precision. We also play a critical role in explaining and defending our models to all of our regulators and examiners around the world.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Collaborate closely with Financial Crime Compliance stakeholders to identify and clearly document requirements through Product Requirement Documents (PRDs).
  • Proactively uncover and articulate opportunities to enhance our models, leveraging advanced AI and Large Language Models (LLMs), and develop compelling business cases to secure alignment with Compliance and Engineering teams.
  • Serve as a critical bridge between Compliance and Engineering, translating regulatory and business needs into actionable technical requirements, and clearly communicating complex technical issues back to Compliance stakeholders for decisions.
  • Act as a knowledgeable advocate for our models, confidently presenting and defending their design, effectiveness, and governance to global regulators and examiners through both verbal engagements and clear documentation.
  • Define clear product roadmaps and prioritize features based on regulatory expectations and business impact
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, Compliance, Data Engineering and Customer Experience

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • Proven experience in Financial Crime Compliance as a Product Manager, Business Analyst, or Engineer
  • Exceptional skills in creating clear, detailed documentation, including diagrams, flowcharts, and Product Requirement Documents (PRDs).
  • Demonstrated track record in implementing Machine Learning and/or AI-driven solutions.
  • Strong project management capabilities, from concept through delivery, launch, and ongoing monitoring and optimization
  • Experience engaging effectively with regulators and examiners, including clear communication and defense of complex technical solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Compliance, Legal, and other stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset, able to use data-driven insights to inform decisions and continuously refine product strategies.

Nice to haves:

  • Direct experience leveraging AI, Machine Learning, or Large Language Models (LLMs) in compliance settings.
  • Interest and/or experience in the cryptocurrency or blockchain industry.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Prior success managing complex, multi-stakeholder product initiatives.
  • ACAMS Certification
