Coinbase is leading the expansion of digital assets into the financial mainstream. We are building a world-class Policy team to lead Coinbase’s engagement, advocacy, and outreach efforts with policymakers around the world. In this role, you will be a key member of the Policy team, at a company where disruptive technologies and unconventional thinking are the norm. You will have an extraordinary opportunity to be on the leading edge of policy development in the cryptocurrency space, and will play an important role in advancing Coinbase’s policy strategy in the United States. You will work closely with external partners, internal business leaders, and other internal support functions like Legal, Compliance, Comms and Marketing, to ensure alignment of our policy activities and functions. This position is fully remote.
Reporting to the Chief Policy Officer, the Program Manager, Public Policy will be responsible for steering alignment between the Policy team’s individual projects and overall strategy, and will help to ensure that the team’s activities involving US Policy, International Policy, Regulatory Policy, and the Coinbase Institute are communicated internally and aligned with Coinbase’s larger strategic plan.
The program manager will keep a pulse on substantive policy developments in the crypto ecosystem, while also keeping a close watch on operational matters such as the Policy team’s budget and headcount needs.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Work with the Chief Policy Officer to steer continued alignment between the Policy Team’s individual projects and overall policy strategy;
- Ensure the Policy team’s objectives are operationalized effectively through both individual contribution and project management oversight;
- Drive a leadership engagement strategy across Policy: develop & maintain comms and planning playbooks to ensure consistent, proactive messaging on Policy deliverables
- Manage the Policy operations function, including budget, headcount requests, recruiting, tools and systems, and other internal processes (e.g., new hire and vendor onboarding);
- Own the drafting and continued alignment of the team’s OKRs and other Big Rocks;
- Develop executive-level communications and messaging to educate key stakeholders (both internal and external) on Policy team activities;
- Serve as the main Point-of-Contact for key initiatives and inbound requests from Team Leads and members of other cross-functional teams;
- Identify issues across the organization and create initiatives to solve them. Guide leadership towards clear, efficient and accountable decision-making following these external interactions; and
- Complete special projects as assigned by the Chief Policy Officer and Policy Team Leads, involving each of the Policy Team’s verticals, that require an in-depth expertise of the policy landscape.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- 5+ years experience in project management, ideally involving public policy, government, or a relevant area of law.
- Subject matter expertise on financial services or technology issues affecting the crypto industry is a plus .
- Demonstrated ability to run operations for a fast moving team.
- Experience with strategic planning, both involving short term projects and long term outcomes.
- Skilled at interacting effectively with all levels of management.
- Superlative writing and communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for working on novel issues in a turbocharged environment, combined with a proclivity for proactive collaboration when problem solving.
- Excellent team-building skills.
- A strong interest in digital assets, crypto markets, and blockchain technology.
- Dynamic presentation and verbal communication skills.
- High EQ and a passion for acting like an owner.
